Renting a Nissan Sentra: a family investment

Renting a Nissan Sentra: a family investment

What do you need to make a family happy? A home, children, a good job and… a car. Ideally, it should be spacious, well-equipped and comfortable. Does the Nissan Sendra correspond to these requirements? We managed to rent this car, so we’ll try to answer this question.

What do you need to make a family happy? A home, children, a good job and… a car. Ideally, it should be spacious, well-equipped and comfortable.

Does the Nissan Sendra correspond to these requirements? We managed to rent this car, so we’ll try to answer this question.

The exterior

You can’t say that Sentra is a real beauty, but there’s no doubt that its design is quite attractive. The interesting shape of the headlights (in premium options with integrated LED strips of daytime running lights), the chrome-plated radiator grill and the expressive lines of the body distinguish this sedan from other cars.

The interior

The Japanese producers tried to make the interior look respectable, and they managed to do so. To start, there is the dashboard with a nice rim and an informative on-board computer – it looks neat and, at the same time, expensive. As expected, the multimedia system supports USB/AUX and shows the map of the navigation system. However, despite its great functionality, there are significant shortcomings. For instance, the central screen doesn’t give a clear image and the quality of the music reproduction isn’t that impressive. The plastic panels are also a bit rough. However, overall, the interior of Sentra gives a very nice impression.

The driver’s seat with a flat shape and insignificant lateral support isn’t designed for active driving but doesn’t make you tired during a long trip. The rear seats are quite spacious and comfortable, even for people who are 180 cm tall. They are broad enough to fit even three passengers. The luggage compartment under the floor has a place for a full-sized spare wheel and the load box itself accounts for 511 litres, which is an impressive number for a sedan.

Running characteristics

Technical aspects of the Nissan Sentra:

  • an 1.6 litre engine has a capacity up to 117bhp
  • a CVT transmission

Dynamics are not the strongest aspect of the Japanese sedan. Despite quite a substantial capacity potential, the Sentra refuses to boost. At low speeds, it lacks traction force and at high speeds the engine simply loses power. The CTV works well in the city but sometimes irritates with its monotonous buzz.

The suspension is balanced. It doesn’t allow for critical swinging on turns which, together with a responsive steering wheel, helps to pass them swiftly, but comfort is clearly more important. Long-stroke energy-consuming struts are efficient, even against large road irregularities, and breakdowns can only occur if the car is clearly overloaded.

Summary

The Nissan Sentra is a great choice for a family. Thanks to sufficient comfort and equipment, the car can be used every day and not without pleasure. As for the weak acceleration dynamics and the rough plastic panels… Maybe someone won’t consider it a shortcoming and renting this car without a driver will be a pleasant time for them.
